Ropy
Marek Hemmann // Milnormodern
Format
// 12"
MMR 007 sees one half of Freude am Tanzen's Hemmann & Kaden with his first solo release: Marek Hemmann delivers three dancefloor movers giving Milnormodern another facet of rocking minimal stuff. "Ropy" on side A shows the path right from the start: While his predecessors on MMR preferred a rather dryly kickin' sound, Marek's handwriting is always somewhat melodic. His tracks are dwelling on a Jena-typical clicky rhythmic foundation but it's these dreamy and slightly melancholic synth lines that emphasize his unique character. This becomes especially obvious in "Coffy and Sun" on B1: Having already been spun on CD-R for quite some time by his FAT-labelmates Wighnomy Brothers and Mathias Kaden this is sure to be Mareks first rave hymn. Finally, "Twenty Sticks" (B2) is another of Mareks atmospheric tracks which he has been playing live a lot over the last months - and one of those that convinced label founder Treplec to get him for Milnormodern. An excellent decision, isn't it?
