Die Kölner Junginstitution 200 Records begeht ihr dreijähriges Jubiläum. Klar, daß das gefeiert wird... denn 3 Jahre 200 Records bedeutet auch: 3 Jahre frisches Vinyl, neuentdeckte Talente und eine wiedererstarkte Kölner Partyszene. Also alles richtig gemacht, werte 200 Crew. Neben lokalen DJ-Helden wie Robert Hartwig, Sebastian Kratzke, Kay Dahmer, Liho oder Henna bittet Labelchef Dirk Middeldorf heute abend (Fr. 27.01.) auch Kompakt Booking Newcomer Nhar sowie 200 Records' klassische Doppelspitze Raucherecke zum Tanze. Letztere haben übrigens nicht nur soeben (quasi vor 5 Minuten) ihre neueste Platte, die "Papierfabrik EP", auf Treibstoff rausgebracht und damit einen weiteren, einen großen Schritt in die Tür der Kölner Techno Hall Of Fame getätigt, sondern werden auch ganz nebenbei ihr wirklich allererstes Live-Set präsentieren. Das Spektakel findet standesgemäß im Stadtgarten, bzw. im Studio 672 statt... wir nennen es "All Area", andere die längste Party der Welt. Zumindest würde es in der Domstadt keinen verwundern, wenn die Irren auch morgen noch ihre Zöpfe vom Schalldruck verzwirbeln lassen. Tja... da sind wohl einige zu früh nach Berlin gezogen.
Cologne underground institution 200 Records celebrates its 3rd year of existence, and they do so by throwing a massive party over at Cologne's Stadtgarten/Studio 672 tonight (Jan 27). The line-up, already featuring a strong selection of local DJ heroes, also includes Kompakt Booking newcomer Nhar as well as 200 Records staple Raucherecke, who not only released their latest EP on Treibstoff Records about five minutes ago, but will also perform their first live set ever.

Delivering a mixtape as engimatic as his own artist persona, Magazine's Crato is deeply involved in Kompakt's individual take on experimental electronic music that came to be known as Pop Ambient. Speaking of which... the new compilation "Pop Ambient 2012" is out now, featuring Kompakt's Wolfgang Voigt and Jörg Burger of The Modernist fame as Ambient supergroup Mohn, The Field's Axel Willner under the guise of side project Loops Of Your Heart, Superpitcher, Magazine (the band), bvdub and many more.

It is a true honour to be invited to Tim Sweeney's legendary NY radio show "Beats In Space"... just like with The Simpsons, everyone and his grandmother showed up to be part of the myth (or at least everyone who made a dent in the universe). For episode #609 (wtf?), Kompakt's Coma got the opportunity to drop some of their favorite records and we have to admit that it's been a truly great show. Today, we're all about Pop Ambient it seems... Premiering Ambient auteur project Mohn (helmed by Kompakt's Wolfgang Voigt and Jörg Burger) not only contributed a beautiful track to our brandnew Pop Ambient 2012 compilation, both artists will also embark on a grandiose live tour, starting on Feb 02 at CTM Festival Berlin, followed up by a gig in Leipzig's Centraltheater on Feb 03. London's Mulletover are throwing a warehouse party at a secret location on Saturday Jan 28, headlined by Joy Orbison and our very own Michael Mayer. Two of the best, most effortlessly crowd-seducing DJs around, Mayer and Joy O will be supported by Mulletover resident Geddes and Another Amit. With a hefty runtime of 10pm-6am, you can expect long and deep sets from each jock involved; we can think of no better way to take your mind off financial ruin and impending liver failure. On February 6th Battles will drop their first (of a 4 part series) 12" of remixes from their phenomenal full length "Gloss Drop". And yes kids, its a full on KOMPAKT takeover.
Both The Field and Gui Boratto step up with remixes. Their label Warp have both remixes streaming now, so judge for yourself... but this could be one of Gui Boratto's best remixes ever.

Keine Brandung ohne Fels: DJ- und Produzentenlegende Robag Wruhme schwingt heut Abend (Sa 21.01.) die Schallplatten im Kölner Gewölbe und wird allen Gesetzen der Wahrscheinlichkeit entsprechend einmal weniger Gefangene machen. Wie kaum einem anderem gelingt es der "Sonne Jenas", Melancholie in Energie zu übersetzen, immer gewinnt Robag auch der bittersüßesten Melodei noch einen Rythmus ab... wie zuletzt auf seiner fulminanten Donnerkuppel EP für Kompakt. Ihm zur Seite stehen Shumi und Marc Lansley alias Truffle Shuffle, die patente Doppelspitze der Kölner Nacht.
Robag Wruhme, internationally acclaimed DJ and producer of such timeless tracks like "Donnerkuppel", plays at Cologne's Gewölbe tonight (Jan 21). Local support comes from scene kingpins Shumi and Marc Lansley aka Truffle Shuffle.

Mit Laptop, Gitarre, Synthesizer, Mikrofon und vor allem einem untrüglichen Pop-Instinkt gewappnet, angeln die beiden Jungs von Coma ihr Publikum mit einem zutiefst tanzbaren Sound, zuletzt auf ihrer Gravity EP auf Kompakt. Gemeinsam mit den hochgehandelten Roosevelt versammeln sich somit am Samstag den 21.01. echte Hoffnungsträger der nur mitunter elektronischen Musik im Konzertsaal des Kölschen Stadtgartens. Dabei handelt es sich bei "The Köln Show" um -die Zwischenzeilenleser und Referenzversteher dürften es bereits erahnen- ein waschechtes Konzerterlebnis, drum beginnt das Spektakel bereits um 21:00 Ortszeit.
"The Köln Show" takes place on Saturday, Jan 21, at Cologne's Stadtgarten, presenting up-and-coming Coma of Kompakt fame (check their latest EP here) and Roosevelt, two acts displaying a keen sense for pop hooks and catchy songwriting, but firmly rooted in the electronic dance scene. As this is a concert, the Köln Show open its doors at 9 pm.
