Event: Kompakt at Nuit Sonores 2012

Everybody who was lucky enough to get a ticket for the sold out Kompakt Showcase at Nuits Sonores Festival in Lyon will witness a truly extraordinary Kompakt line up amidst an already awesome festival programme. Presenting names like Sascha Funke and his new project with Julienne Dessagne Sachienne, Pachanga Boys, DJ Koze, Matias Aguayo and French producer Hervé Ak, Kompakt both sticks to its roots and dares to cast a glance at the future. Everybody who gets there: have fun while whistling your song.

Watch: Tomas Barfod's "Broken Glass"

After Danish Indie Dance mobsters WhoMadeWho signed in with the Kompakt mothership, drummer Tomas Barfod also picked up his solo career again and is readying his latest full length for Friends Of Friends, coming on May 22 via double LP vinyl, CD, and digitally. For his recent EP "Broken Glass", Barfod drops a dreamy video directed by Martin Garde Abildgaard. The 12" has already been released, featuring another badass track by Tomas called "Beach Party" that can be checked out here.

In case you wondered how the Pachanga Boys maintain their mojo, one gaze at the picture should answer all your questions: it's the "Pachanga Superior Power Elixir" boosting that stamina, and they'll need it, with all those awesome shows they're about to play in the next months. See, the Pachanga's are really committed to spread the spirit of their Hippie Dancing and this summer, the path of their quest will take them to different places and situations, from boats and beaches to classic underground spots, from sweaty nights to theatrical silence, also celebrating the next delivery from the Hippie Dance saga with the 3rd 12" to be released June 22nd. Check out this great mixtape Sebastien Bouchet did for Get The Curse, as it holds all the weirdo perfectionism the guy's known for. Quite an interesting selection he's got here, pitching true versatility and implementing other people's track in his sound universe as if they were his own. As a DJ and producer, Sebastian definitely sports a voice of his own, strong-willed, but subtle, personal, but approachable.

Glasgow producer Sei A (now residing in London) drops some nightlife tips for webradio Pulse. For the online electronic music portal Andy Graham aka Sei A namend his favorits clubs, partys and bars of his hometown Glasgow... and he should know. He had his first release in 2003 on US dub house label Worship Recordings, marking the starting point for a highly versatile and internationally acclaimed output. Check out his latest release for Kompakt's legendary Speicher compilation.

There's an argument to be made that Saschienne's well-documented fascination with the unknown bleeds into their mixing technique, looking at how they obviously don't care for genre proficiency. It's quite some trippy stuff they present in this podcast exclusively made for Japanese dance music hub Clubberia, and it comes from all angles, in the most unsuspected ways. Exactly our cup of tea, especially when someone pulls off a stunt like stuffing the no wave hop of ESG, JayDee's timeless classic "Plastic Dreams" and Conrad Schnitzler's electrified ode to socialist propaganda all into one mix. A huge bonus drop comes with Dixon's Remix of Saschienne's very own "Unknown", to be released on the 21st of may as a collaborative 12" from Kompakt and Innervisions.

Watch: Pantha du Prince's Hendrik Weber and Stephan Abry look for the source

Together with Workshop's Stephan Abry, Hendrik Weber aka Pantha Du Prince presents his new studio project "Ursprung" (engl.: source). Influenced by Krautrock, the Ambient Music of Harold Budd and early Brian Eno, classical Avantgarde and the minimalistic guitar sound of Durutti Collumn, Ursprung creates mystic Ambient fields. In advance Ursprung launches a video recorded somewhere in Northern Europe for the previous ten-minute track "Exodus Now". The selftiteld LP will be released in end of May on the Hamburg based label Dial.

Watch: the spectacular visuals of Mohn

Mohn is quite a coupling, with Wolfgang Voigt and Jörg Burger at the helm: on the one hand there's the radical, analytical, mindbombing Ambient by Wolfgang Voigt – in his cosmos Techno means essentially Ambient without the Ambient part – and on the other hand, there's Jörg Burger with his shining basslines and maximally minimalistic precision funk. Trough their collaboration as "Mohn" the distinct musical swagger of each artist synchronises perfectly. Mohn's live shows are the talk of the town right now, thanks in parts to the elaborate visuals which have been produced specifically to accommodate their stage presence. For their powerful "Saturn", Mohn released a new video in style of "Ebertplatz 2020". Check it out and make sure to get your edition of their impressive debut album.
