Tocotronic: Germany's most coveted pop/rock quartet have paved a road in rock music unlike any band on the planet thanks to vocalist Dirk von Lowtzow's lyrical metaphors which consist of fantasy, fairy tales, political subjects and simple words and their ever evolving concoction of pop and indie-rock. Since their inception on 1993, Tocotronic have refused to comply with the norm but at the same time have won the hearts of Germany achieving a string of top 10 hits over recent years. And with the release of their new single, so the tradition with Kompakt continues... there is an obvious synergy that occurs between Dirk's snarling, sexy vocals and the sway of Cologne techno. From the Tobias Thomas/Olaf Dettinger remix of “Jackpot” to the Tobias Thomas/Superpitcher mix of Phantom/Ghost's “Perfect Lover” (Phantom/Ghost being the electronic-pop project of Dirk von Lowtzow and Thies Mynther (Stella, Superpunk, etc.)), though German sung lyrics may not be understood by all, the success of these singles proved that everyone can feel them (exemplified by the critical acclaim that resulted with the inclusion of the “Perfect Lover” remix on Michael Mayer's Immer mix CD). Now, for the first time, Tocotronic will be released on Kompakt Pop as the remix single to their new album's title track “Pure Vernunft Darf Niemals Siegen”. Kompakt co-founder Wolfgang Voigt together with Superpitcher have metamorphosized this mighty song for the dance floor - an intoxicating piece of techno music and potentially the most definitive release for Kompakt Pop to date. Superpitcher's extraordinary talent for arrangement and melody creation as the remix single to their new album's title track “Pure Vernunft Darf Niemals Siegen”. Kompakt co-founder Wolfgang Voigt together with Superpitcher have metamorphosized this mighty song for the dance floor - an intoxicating piece of techno music and potentially the most definitive release for Kompakt Pop to date. Superpitcher's extraordinary talent for arrangement and melody creation alongside Wasserman's legendary vision for creating state-of-the-art dance music make for a perfectly stunning matrimony. “Pure Vernunft Darf Niemals Siegen” moves into a realm beyond the remix, sounding as if the band and Wasserman/Superpitcher had forged this song together in the studio. But there is also a message floating above the sound translated as “Pure reason may never win, we urgently need new lies.” A protest song. A manifesto that is universally and timelessly valid. The times have changed and it's not easy to sit back and watch as many issues in this world no longer can be ignored as they become all too obvious and our boredom of these crimes expand into deep unhappiness. It is high time to “protest”. After all, it is possible to dance politically. Here comes Protest Techno 2005.
In Japan ja sowieso. Hier kommt Protesttechno 2005.
