(en) after the foundsound cofounder garnered heaps of hype with his 2006 release (you am i ep) on foundsound, fusiphorm went on to do a few other eccentrically heady eps and remixes for labels like plong!, sushitech purple and tic tac toe. now the frenchman is back with his second foundsound release, yourspace ep. this time around, fusiphorm presents an even more sophisticated approach to minimal dance music with three tracks of stripped-down rhythms, snappy percussion and playful field recordings. on a1 - "daniel's extended network" - you get a lengthy minimal dancefloor burner that evolves in a slow and gentle manner -- offering djs an excellent tool for the raging crowds. a driving four/four beat, a snappy clap and a funky house bassline maintain the groove while ticky percussion and shuffly hats dance around eerie found sounds, restrained effects, and a subtle melody reminiscent of early '90s house. but it's all about how the track shrewdly moves and evolves. the track's simplicity brings out its complexity. on b1 - "here for serious relationships" - you get a dissonant, electro-ish bassline that plunges merrily through a funky, catchy groove made of clunky, tick-tacking percussion, cutesy bleeps, and the scraping and grinding of roguish found sounds. the track's groove and subtle playfulness maintain a minimal intricacy while the funky arrangement itself is what makes it so alluring. on b2 - "thanx for the add" - you get a more mellow and laid-back number to soothe your goofy head. a simple, minimal beat and dissonant bassline gently drive their way through a refreshingly dreamy, waterlike texture. the clunky, wood block-ish percussion becomes pleasantly quirky while the track maintains a deep and tranquil sensation. your head and body groove airily somewhere between haunting darkness and uplifting bliss. and remember, kids! fusiphorm hates myspace! hit him up on myspace and tell him how much you love his yourspace ep. and then stick your finger up his butt.
