(en) What started with a little side note quickly became one of the hottest issues in all kind of different media: The ducks had disappeared. First, scientists proposed several rather exotic hypotheses, but finally geneticists came up with a useful explanation: actually, the DNA of this animal provided a useful hint. It looked as if a collective order had been ready to be called off from their genetic material. And now, after thousands of years, something must have triggered it, maybe an electric impulse or an acoustic signal. Sebastian Riedl aka Basteroid started his music career in 2000 when he founded the label "Areal Records" together with his two friends Michael Schwanen (Metope) and Matthias Klein (Konfekt/Welt Zwei) – a good basis for all his future releases. Apart from his work released on "Sender Records" and a number of remixes, he is also performing live all around the world spreading his unmistakeable sounds among the people. On his first album "Upset Ducks", he allows free play to all the different music styles that he is influenced by. The result is a happy mix of trance, funk, rock, gongs and bangs. Half of this record was created in Schaerding /Upper Austria, where the whole duck population regularly gets upset (that's where the title comes from), by one track in particular, but also by the rest of this record.

(de) Erst war es nur eine kleine Randnotiz, schnell jedoch wurde es zum wichtigsten Thema in allen Medien. Die Enten waren verschwunden. Wissenschaftler rätselten, Theorien über Theorien. Genetiker fanden einen Hinweis in der DNA der Tiere. Offenbar war ein kollektiver Befehl seit Jahrtausenden abrufbereit in ihrem Erbgut verankert. Etwas muss ihn ausgelöst haben. Ein elektrischer Impuls soll es gewesen sein oder vielleicht ein akustisches Signal. Sebastian Riedl alias Basteroid begann seine Laufbahn als Musiker mit Gründung des Labels "Areal Records" Anfang 2000. Zusammen mit seinen zwei Freunden –Michael Schwanen (Metope) und Matthias Klein (Konfekt/Welt Zwei) – hatte er so eine Basis für fast alle seine zukünftigen Veröffentlichungen geschaffen. Neben Releases auf "Sender Records" und einigen Remixen, ist er außerdem als Live Act in der Welt unterwegs und bringt seinen unverwechselbaren Sound unter die Völker. Auf seinem ersten Album "Upsets Ducks" lässt er all seine Einflüsse frei laufen und tranced, gongt, funkt, rockt und nicht zuletzt wummert fröhlich vor sich hin, bis einfach kein Platz mehr auf der Scheibe ist. Das Album ist zur Hälfte in Oberösterreich, in Schärding am Inn, entstanden, wo, namensgebenderweise, besonders bei einem Lied, aber auch sonst meistens, die Entenbevölkerung regelmäßig ausgetickt ist.
