Twelve

Dub Kult // Traum Schallplatten
Format // 12"
(en) Dub Kult aka Neilon Pitamber from London had his debut record out on Warp's new sub label Arcola, which was picked by DJ's like Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Andrew Weatherall, the Raum Music DJs etc. He has been a DJ since the mid-nineties, focussing on his style, keeping it quiet and nice. Still getting a lot of recognition lately also because of his brilliant Raum music releases. Dub Kults style is a combination of house and techno, can be quite edgy but at the same time he loves the playful and deep tech house. This contrast is easily perceivable in three facet's on his debut EP on Traum. With his rocking a-side "Twelve" and the Herbert flavoured "Chick" as well as the more electronic "Slipping Away". "Twelve" itself is contrasting hard beats with sweet bells that create a nice break in this track, whereas "Chick" is taking various influences that create a multi cultural flavour based on an 4 to the floor beat, ranging from dub to house to techno taking in the jazz und micro sounds. "Slipping Away" is a nice slow beat track that works more on the experimental side of sounds, using a lot of modifications and modern sound design.
