The Mole // Risquee
Format // 12"
(en) It's not a secret for anybody now that The Mole is the spiritual brother of such artists as Moodyman, with the edit technics of a Ron Hardy, a feel of the groove like Henrik Schwarz but with a sensibilty that no one else but him can obtain. If you ever experienced The Mole playing live you can understand what we mean by this. After outstanding releases on Wagon Repair, Philpot, Ghostly and MUTEK_REC, he's back on Musique Risquée with a beautiful introspective three tracker for his second release. Following where is older ep left (Meets the Bacon Smuggler / RISQUEE04) this new one is digging even deeper territories. The opening track ''I've got my a'' is an upper-mid-tempo, Theo Parrish style, tribal house groove. Building up slowly with it's hypnotic percussion over ridden by blistering african chants, it convey the listener into a journey trought space and time. "Thanks for coming out pt.1" is a sweet little anthem building up slowly and softly. It reminds strangely of Angelo Badalamenti's "Twin Peaks'' soundtrack, lush keyboard pads supported by smooth drum pattern. A perfect openening or finishing track for any dj set. And closing off perfectly this ep is "Border times", a soulful, reggae feel uprising club track that will for sure make it's way in the playlist of many djs. A solid beat support by an infectious melody and soft synths layers. Without a doubt, The Mole as done it again for Musique Risquée.
