Lost In The City

Plastique De Reve // Supersoul Recordings
Format // 12"
40 Thieves take Lost In The City into another dimension by dropping the vocal, slowing the track down a notch and adding a mesmerizing soundscape to the acid-ey elements of the original. They take you on an atmospheric journey, combining old school haunt with more contemporary aquatic sounds. The tune is liquid gold, with sex appeal to boot, and it's versatility means you could play this record on big dancefloors or in sleazy and

intimate disco joints.

The Juan Maclean brings something different to the table with his interpretation. This energized cut adopts a toughness that is rather up front and has been crafted to get bodies moving. Rife with stabby synthesizers and clean cut drum sequences, intensity builds as the track becomes more exciting by the minute, erupting into a psychedelic trip backed by a jacking groove.

The digital release also includes the original Lost In The City version and the track Resist, previously only available on a limited Death From Abroad 12" and the DFA presents Supersoul Recordings. To top it off there's a remix of Resist by Chicago based DJ/producer DJ Rampage. In his punchy version, a cut-up Hip Hop production style dominates. Oldschool piano house and marching band madness make for an off the hook, over the top example of the Chicago based producers' abilities. The tune slots into the Baltimore sub-niche but exhibits reflections of various other styles, incorporating sample heavy methods. The track is clever in it's way and is sure the inflict craziness amongst party goers.
