Latenightlife Remixed

Nitin // My Favorite Robot
Format // 12"
Nitin's superb 'Latenightlife EP' sees a reprise with a brilliant set of remixes from Anthony Collins, Subb-an and Brett Johnson plus a re-edit featuring world music legends Sexteto Tabala... When it was released early in 2011, Nitin's 'Latenightlife EP' instantly became one of the biggest singles to date for My Favorite Robot records. Its mix of deep dubby house and otherworldly electronica saw rave reviews across Europe's press and had Dj's such as Jamie Jones, Clive Henry, Slam and Danny Howells queuing up to play cuts from it. And seeing as the EP consisted of entirely original recordings it seems quite natural that the record is to see a rebirth with a set of stunning remixes in the new year. Nitin should need little introduction these days having gained prominence through both his recordings for MFR and No19 Music, the label he co-runs with Jonny 'Art Department' White. Looking further back, Nitin has been at the heart of the Ontario and Toronto electronic music scene as a DJ, producer, promoter and label boss. This brand new package kicks off with Nitin's own re-edit of the excellent 'Blink Twice'. For this new version Nitin got together with legendary Columbian group Sexteto Tabala on their recent visit to Toronto. Sexteto Tabala are a hugely influential act that have been spreading their native Columbian/Caribbean sound around the world for the past 50 years and their influence on this new version is impressive. Deep, dubby and tribal house interlaced with the unique vocals and afro/latin percussion of Sexteto Tabala, make this a very special recording, bringing an already outstanding record to the next level. Next up we have the prolific and talented Anthony Collins at the controls, a producer who has released for the likes of Freak n Chic, Tuning Spork, Liebe*detail and Get Physical. Here he takes 'Blink Twice' and reworks it into a musical journey of piano lines, live percussion, synth sweeps and entwined rhythms, creating a remix that has it's own unique sound. Following on, we have the much lauded Subb-an, whose releases for the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Leftroom and Tsuba have gained him a reputation for outstanding house music. For this remix package he takes Nitin's 'The Nine in One' and turns in a remix that is certain to set floors alight. A rolling bass pattern and taught percussion give a building sense of anticipation, as layers of the vocals and FX are added to the mix creating a perfect heads down groove. Finally 'The Nine in One' sees a second remix outing this time at the hands of the brilliant Brett Johnson, a man who has been making some of the best house music around for the last 10 years plus. That said this mix is something of a side step in to pure 'Steppin' territory, in fact the mix itself is titled 'Brett Johnson's For Steppers Only remix'. Deep, warm and beautifully arranged around skipping drums and deep bass this is simply sublime and perfect closing opus for this great package. This is a truly heavyweight package from a label who are undoubtedly serious contenders, enjoy!
