(en) I'm Single release the eponymous debut CD from KHAN OF FINLAND in January. So who is Khan Of Finland ? Centered around the figure of Can "Khan" Oral, Khan Of Finland are a trio in the traditional sense of the word who make a sound that is anything but. Using just vocals, piano and human beat-box, they play an all-acoustic Electronic Blues but also switch roles and improvise. The piano becomes a percussive instrument. The beat(box) melodic. The vocal full-blooded. From the blues to a howl. The sound veering from metal-heavy riffs to dubbed-out cabaret. Nine songs all recorded live at a defunct gas station in Berlin-Wedding with a few additional over-dubs recorded at various other spectacular locations such as St. Clara Church in Berlin-Neukoelln. Khan Of Finland is already a regular name on the festival circuit after their smash appearance at Sonar 2007 in Barcelona and is now coming to meet you during a massive European tour planned for late 2008/early 2009. Khan Of Finland are: Human beat-box Mark Boombastik was born in Hamburg's "Schanzenviertel" and started making music with his mouth after someone broke his guitar. Fed through an array of effects, his teeth become a xylophone, his tongue a billion drum-rolls. He has recorded and played with the likes of Felix Kubin, Patrick Catani and Funkstörung. Classically trained pianist Boris Bergman is a Frankfurt native, transplanted to Berlin. His experience ranges from the traditional to the avant-garde, including stints playing drums and keyboards in no wave and punk bands and also composing film scores. You have probably heard his music in a movie or TV series already. Khan, an international blues traveler of Turkish-Finnish extraction, who has collaborated and performed with such divas as Diamanda Galas, Julee Cruise, Brigitte Fontaine and Kid Congo Powers amongst many others. He who never rests with heart and blood and beats and laptop. Smeared in greasepaint and sporting perverse bunny ears, Khan plays MC, host and torch singer from the depths of hell. I'm Single? LIARS! This is the new label from Can "Khan" Oral, dedicated to releasing singles and distributed through Kompakt. However, this is indeed not a piece of vinyl! This is the first CD release for the label, and differs from the other releases. Due to Khan Of Finland's upcoming touring commitments, they will actually pre-distribute this album at shows so that people can leave the events this winter with a special, exclusive gift.
