Arne Michel // Lan Muzic
Format // 12"
This Ep is a treat for anyone that is into tracks with perfectly placed sounds, stripped down to just the right amount of elements necessary to keep up a steady drive. Although dedicated to the dancefloor they never go over the top and consequently work their way in the chosen atmosphere. All set in a minimal environment each of the tracks leave the starting point in an own direction, which ranges from hypnotic to housy. Arne Michel proves with this release that he hasn't lost his touch after taking a break from the techno circuit. Being one of the DJ pioneers he was quite busy in the early 90's and had his first release in 1994. But he decided to take a break and chose to wander in other realms. But typical for any music fanatic he couldnt stop to whip up his own tunes and has been a part of the Lan Muzic crew from day one. To round up the Ep one the most talented musicians out there took on "Truckstop" and turned it into a wonderful piece of music. Alex Smoke hits the essence of the word "remixing" and delivers a unique interpretation. He just lets us sit back with a smile and wonder how he does it... The original is a dark hypnotic track leaning toward tribal elements which has enough individualtiy that it can be called a "Tool" in a good way. "Omni" is the most minimal of the tracks and develops its virtues when played at the right moment. Just like a perfect italian coffee in the morning. "Half Truth" is the hidden treasure of the Ep and happens to have this certain unexplainable something to it that makes you want to move.
