Escape 5

Bozzwell // Firm
Format // 12"
Next up, Bozzwell throws us a slice of deep computer funk, "Escape 5" (A1), a dark and skippy journey, a story even!….. not content in churning out tracky dull techno, he's come up once again with something deep with a thoughtful and intriguing narrative lyric. Whilst Hiem rule the disco (Bozzwell's electro pop band) he has been turning feet and heads as a solo artist with his releases on Eskimo's Suicide imprint, and most recently last years mini EP "Fiona's Song" (FIRM 28) which achieved rave reviews everywhere even picking up a prestigious "Pick of the week" in the influential and high brow "Guardian Newspaper"and lighting up the skys with plays on the BBC'S flagship radio station Radio 1. This release should secure Bozzwells place amonst the european elite. A2 sees Ju Beyer aka "Popnoname" with Volker Pannes aka "Deepulse" revisiting Firm 28's "Marlenas Eyes ", reworking the original into a powerful punchy dancefloor groover , taking on where Bozzwell left off, JU´s and Volkers remix adds a little ambient flavour, twisting the chorus vocal and laying down a simple driving kick to the piece. Andre Kraml rewires the track(B1), focusing on the technical detail of the vocals and adds a deeper flavour still , popping and fizzing as it bounces along - there's something for every house , techno or electro dj in this package. 2009 Sees the rogue Sheffielder releasing The Hiem debut featuring collaborations with Pops Royalty's Roots Manuva , Kate Jackson and The Human League's Phil Oakey, through Sheffield Imprint Society, alongside working on his debut longplayer for FIRM this year. With all these releases he's definitely threatening to cause a mighty stir in the cooler pages of the music press and set dancefloors alight all over the globe with his legendary techy live and dj sets.
