Barem // Foundsound Records
Format // 12"
foundsound is brimming with glee to present to you the vinyl debut of barem (a.k.a. mauricio barembuem). a young lad hailing from buenos aires, argentina, barem garnered much respect with his digital releases and remixes on unfoundsound which continue to receive heavy play by hot shot djs like richie hawtin, magda, someone else and others. on a1 -- "camploco" -- barem jacks your body with tracky minimal goodness and calculated funk. the loopy bassline dominates the groove while scraping found sounds shuffle, slide and stab as the track evolves into quirky dancefloor insanity fueled by tickity-tackity percusion and a low male voice -- meanwhile remaining deep and heady at the same time. on a2, onur özer from istanbul, turkey, (with releases on freude am tanzan and vakant), reworks "campoloco" into a darker, more tonal head-trip with a druggy latin undertone. it's profoundly deep and dancefloor-moving all at once. fans of villalobos will be stoked. on b1 -- "cilindro" -- you get more minimal funk with an alluring loopy bassline. playful found sounds dance around the tracky dancefloor thriller, fueled by tick-tick percussion, chopped up voices, and snappy digital effects. on b2 -- "la frazada del tío" -- barem gets deeper and ultra-heady with a slow-moving minimal house beat, squished field recordings, and sticky percussion reminiscent of plastikman. with this dainty number, more color and squiggly lines will be added to your lcd trips in berlin. also not included on this vinyl release, foundsound's own fusiphorm presents a bonus remix of "cilindro" only available in digital format through kompakt, beatport, itunes and other various mp3 sites. yeah dude! we love barem! and you will, too! for barem, this is only the beginning.
