On this third ZN full-length album, Splank! beams us up into a sparkling bass-land. And again, the man behind Zombie Nation aka John Starlight reinvents himself and comes up with 12 hot tracks that will make (even) your dog chase his tail! Here comes the sound of Black Toys! From the deep flow of a breathtaking "Booster", to the live feeling and roughness of the title track "Black Toys", to the cruising, headbanging track "Slow", this album is far from being just another bunch of club tunes compiled on a CD. Black Toys means crossover electronic music. A style orgy carefully spiced with dirt and grind. This album will appeal to fans of Daft Punk, Justice, AC/DC, Slayer and Donna Summer: It´s the soundtrack for afficionados of a crispy groove. Splank! explains: "I've learned a lot by playing live every weekend. I like to try out new things. I've only a few songs in my pocket, but I play them in a thousand different ways". There is a lot to discover while all the facets on Black Toys melt together into a giant, friendly sound monster. "This is dirty street Techno made in Munich" In the Zombie Studio, all sounds are made from scratch. Once it is a new toy keyboard found at the flee market, another time it is a drummer on acid whose beats are sampled: the approach may always be different, but the basis is a creative way of sampling. "On the hunt for the greatest sawtooth" (Keys Mag), a squeaking door becomes a percussive element, synths are being re-recorded through guitar amps and remixed through 70s German broadcast gear." There are definitely easier ways to do it. But has the easiest way ever led you to the most beautiful results?
