Battle Twig is the old English word for the insect "Ear Wig", which describes to a degree the nature of the title track. How best to describe the track "Battle Twig"? It's a heavy analogue sounding beast that creeps around the floor, playing hide and seek, sometimes quite gentle sounds lurking/ lingering here and there... crazy dynamic changes... sounds clashing... it's very much in the style of Steve Barnes track "Cosmic Sandwich", which gave birth to the project in the first place. "Battle Twig" in its antagonism of two words that don´t usually go together, reflecting on the schizophrenic mind of Cosmic Sandwich, which had been the topic before on his "Man In A Box" 12"... With the much more elegant almost pop-fuelled "Scatter Realm" on the flipside, the idea of two minds in one person appears again. "Scatter Realm" is a kingdom of sound, with its melodies being flung, spread, broadcasted, sprinkled, dispersed throughout the track. It is based on synth melodies that fill the air with joy... Magic without the cunning stunts of David Copperfield, the composition is much more a classic one than "Battle Twig". A piece of great music in a simple way, no backdoors, no tricks, no hocus pocus. It could be a pop song for the radio, or a big trance classic in Sweden or maybe a chart hit in the UK... The track is accessible to lots of people with different ideas making it universal.
