All In
Reinhard Voigt // Kompakt
Format
// 12"
The master of the unambiguos message is back. Reinhard Voigt's minimal techno in 2007 sounds as clear as a mountain torrent, and as un-clickity-clackity as a diamond drill head. And that's for the collective good. With his new 12inch ‚All in' Reinhard Voigt audibly glances back to his early musical influences. There's a good measure of oldschool Chicago house thump combined with the smart weirdness of Warp's bleep techno age. Especially the flipside "Missing Billie" insistently pushes the low range frequencies and gently keeps the crowd going without any razzle-dazzle, sirens or horns. This casual understatement sets him in direct proximity to Berlin's Sascha Funke. We need to ignore that moustache though... The extraordinarily splendid cover artwork was provided by Dennis Busch, who in real life is running the incredible Esel imprint. We might have said it before: We love Esel.
