Earlier this month, Cologne-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Gregor Schwellenbach won the prestigious German Indie Award by VUT for best experiment - he did so for his stunning collection of Kompakt reinterpretations released last year: "Gregor Schwellenbach Spielt 20 Jahre Kompakt" saw a healthy melange of signature cuts and rarities from the label reworked for a rich array of instruments, ranging from the classic to the exotic.
